It is Riffles’ goal to promote and enhance biological diversity so that the health of the environment can be improved while achieving positive and sustainable economic and social outcomes.

Initially, we aim to do this by increasing knowledge of Tasmania’s biological diversity and communicating this knowledge through a range of media including books and this website.  Wherever possible, links to existing reference material and helpful websites will be included.

In the future, information about Tasmania’s rivers and native riparian vegetation will also be included.

Wings

Based on the annual population of land dwellers, the average earthling is about 1 cm long, lives for about one year, and has wings at some stage of its life.  If you would like to know more about insects that are found in Tasmania, click on the headers in the left-hand margin or purchase a copy of our field guide,  Wings: an introduction to Tasmania’s winged insects by Elizabeth Daley by sending an email to publications@riffles.com.au.  Soft covers are $49.95 and hard covers are $55.00.  Postage and handling for a single copy is $9.95 for anywhere in Australia.  GST is included in the price.

Wings is also available in nearly all major bookstores across Tasmania as well as some visitor information centres.
